Last week the Rochester Active Sports Club (or RASC - which kinda controls the cycling and mountain biking communities in town), met with the city park board to present the proposed mountain bike trail system at Gamehaven.
Funny thing, I heard about the meeting late on the day of the presentation, through the Rochester (High School) Mountain Bike Team (RMBT) and not through the RASC website, email list or message board. When I showed up to the normal Tuesday night practice race, no one there knew about it either. I think it's great that RMBT knew about and had a fairly large presence there. It is a very positive way to get support for trails and the sport in general.
But ... there is also a large adult community of cyclists and mountain bikers. This could have been a time to bring the community together to support the sport. I know if I had known about it sooner I could have left work early to be at the meeting. (It was at 4:30pm)
Anyway, I'm through with ranting about that. Below is the proposed trail map.
In the end it's supposed to be about 6 miles of trail. I'm pretty excited to have another place close to ride. I mean it's close enough that I could still ride there from home.

I think it will be set up that most of the time you access the park and trails from Co Rd 101 (off of Co 1/Simpson Rd). I could be wrong. And these are proposed trails, not built yet. So there will be some trailwork days needed.
I hope there's no poison ivy like there is at Eastwood. That stuff is terrible.
